Maho Beach: As you step onto the powdery sands of Maho Beach, the warm Caribbean sun kisses your skin. The turquoise waves gently lap the shore, inviting you to dip your toes. Here’s what awaits you: St. Maarten's world famous Plane-spotting Beach, which offers a one-of-a-kind experience for aviation enthusiasts and adventure lovers. The legendary Maho Beach, also known as Sunset Beach, sits just off the end of the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM). Here’s what you can expect:

  • Commercial Airliners: North American carriers dominate the scene, with Air France and KLM operating long-haul transatlantic flights. The optimal plane-spotting hours are between noon and 17:00. Keep an eye out for Air France’s pair of A330 landings, which come remarkably close to the beach.
  • Aircraft Variety: Beyond European widebodies, you’ll spot Boeing 737s and Airbus A320 family jets. JetBlue’s A320ceo services from US hubs, Canadian carrier Air Transat’s A321neo flights, and Spirit Airlines’ Airbus narrow-body family add to the mix. Frontier recently started flying to St. Maarten from Orlando (MCO) as well.
  • Maho Beach Magic: Imagine massive intercontinental airliners coming within meters of onlookers on the sand and in the Caribbean Sea below. It’s a thrilling experience that draws aviation enthusiasts from around the world. You find a cozy spot on the beach, toes buried in the sand, and gaze out at the horizon. The anticipation builds—the next arrival is imminent.  Suddenly, the air vibrates. Heads turn. A massive aircraft approaches, wheels almost skimming the water. The roar of engines drown out the sound of waves. You raise your camera, capturing the awe-inspiring moment—an Air France A330 gliding gracefully toward the runway. It’s a dance of man and machine, nature and engineering. As the planes land, the beachgoers cheer. Children giggle, their eyes wide with wonder. The salty breeze carries the scent of jet fuel, and you feel alive. The sand ripples under the engine thrust. You exchange smiles with fellow travelers—strangers bound by this magical experience.
  • Plus, during your aviation adventure, you can savor Maho's delightful array of drinking and dining options at nearby establishments while watching planes take off and land.

So, if you’re seeking an unforgettable beach and plane-spotting adventure, St. Maarten’s Maho Beach is the place to be!
