Follow the main road leading to the French capital of Marigot, along the fields and ruins of 300-year old sugar cane plantations to the bustling Market Place on the Waterfront. If you are lucky enough to have booked your tour on a Wednesday or Saturday, you will get to witness Market Day, the lively flurry of colors and smells of spices and fruit, local art and jewelry, as well as fresh fish and meats.
Leave the noise and action of the Market place behind you and hike up to the historical Fort Louis which was built in the 1600s and offers a spectacular view of neighboring Anguilla, the Chrystal blue Bay and Marigot. Stop off at the newly opened Museum* to learn about artifacts that have been recently found in native villages dating back thousands of years, as well as St. Maartens rich and vibrant past. From here, it is a smooth ride back to location where you can enjoy a well-deserved cold drink before boarding the bus back to the cruise terminal.
