There is so much talent on this 37 square miles of St. Maarten / St. Martin.  Explore some of the art work and often meet and greet with the artists themselves.

Travel in style and comfort in an air-conditioned vehicle, while listening to the guide explain the landscapes and some history of St Maarten/St. Martin.  Visit the homes or galleries of multiple artist living and creating art right here on the island.  Art galleries may include artists such as Alexandra Minguet and Ruby Bute.  Possible stop by Art Box Gallery where they showcase over 20 artists from the island and around the Caribbean.  Opportunities to purchase precious works of art and souvenirs at all locals.  Galleries have original works as well as giclees, prints, postcards and everything in between.

Travel between destination will include breathtaking views of Oyster Pond, Orient Bay, Friars Bay, Marigot, Simpson Bay and Great Bay.  Throughout the drive you will see stunning murals painted on the sides of buildings, electrical boxes, pump houses etc.  These have been insulted to bring colours and happiness to the island.  Most artists are local and you will be in awe of the talent.

One of several artists you will visit on the French side of the island is in Oyster Pond. Here you will enter into the quaint home and gallery to discover the Caribbean paintings of Dona Bryhiel. Having lived in the Caribbean for a large portion of her adult life, Dona has made the Caribbean culture her own. You will see it in the nature, the colors, the people, and favored themes of her paintings.

You will also visit the Alexandre Minguet Art Gallery, which is now managed by the daughter of the late artist. The gallery carries original watercolors, paintings, lithographs, reproductions, postcards and posters by the artist that depict colorful landscapes, marine scenes, local villages and tropical flowers.

You will also travel to the village of Friar’s Bay where you will visit the home of Ruby Bute. To Ruby, painting has always been her life and joy. Through her watercolors, oils, acrylics and pastels, you can look deep into St. Martin’s culture and the natural beauty of her island and its people..

On your ride back to the cruise terminal, you will have the option of ending your tour in down town Philipsburg shopping area or at the cruise terminal. Guests departing down town will arrange their own transportation back to the cruise terminal via taxi, water taxi at their own expense. Alternatively take a 15-20 min walk back to the terminal.
